This year we intend to cross the Mississippi River and touch our toes in Iowa before heading back home. Nice way to save on gas as it tops $4.15 a gallon here in the Midwest!

Here is a quick tip for nutrition and great skin!

 

As I was perusing the book “Eat This – Not That” by David Zinczenko, I found this interesting tidbit. Researchers studied the diets of 400 elderly men and women and found that those who ate the most leafy green vegetables and beans had had the fewest wrinkles. The reason? Spinach and beans are full of compounds that help repair wear and tear on your skin cells as you get older.

If you may think you are not tech savvy, don’t let your eyes gloss over , because I mention the word technology. You know how to leave a phone message, don’t you?

Well now your phone message (to yourself or someone else) can be converted into an email.

You simply need to sign up for your free account at www.jott.com and you’ll be able to call yourself, leave a message and when you get home that message – all neatly typed out – will be in your email inbox.

Why? I’ve found a number of uses.

One of my clients is now jotting as she drives to work. She told me she wouldn’t / couldn’t set aside the five minutes in the morning to use her Daily Success sheets, which are a vital part of the Reasonable Diet Project YOU.

However instead of sitting down with paper and pencil, she is “jotting” herself from her cell phone on the way to work. When she arrives she opens her inbox and whaa laaaa – her commitment to her daily plan is all typed out and ready to go.

Do you count calories, but don’t have your “journal” with you? Call yourself and leave a message as you eat, so that you don’t conveniently “forget.”

Spot a great recipe in a doctor’s office magazine? Don’t rip the page out, just call yourself on the jott line and read the recipe into the phone. It will be all typed out, in your email and ready for you to print out when you get home.

I can’t believe this service is free. It’s like having a secretary to type your dictation. It uses voice recognition software that is extremely accurate with spelling and punctuation. The service also allows you to send text messages, add items to calendars and lists, and to send emails to other people – all from just talking into your cell phone.

I can’t believe I actually bought one, but I did. Staples office supply store has a big red button that when pressed says, “That was easy.” I love it.

It’s totally true: Weight loss is easy. It really is. As soon as you want it bad enough to adopt a can-do attitude – you will find easy ways to lose weight too.

Getting back into summer clothes and discovering that, well, shall we say, winter clothes are a little more forgiving – this is a time of year when many folks suddenly acquire that can-do attitude.

Are you ready to push the “That was easy” button?

Are you ready to get rid of those extra jiggles? Really ready? Well good. Because it’s easy!

Following are the ABC’s of easy weight loss.

No, you don’t have to do all 26. Pick the ones you are willing to do for a week. Pick all those that appeal to you in an easy manner. This is totally about you combining a can-do attitude with a little bit of focus

Apple – carry one with you at all times.

Bags and Boxes – eliminate them. Eat only off of a plate.

Change – your meal frequency. Eat three squares or four to six mini meals.
