Cindy is very determined to lose weight. In her first 12 weeks of Reasonable Diet she lost 22.5 pounds. In the next 12 weeks she lost 10 more. She's a funny lady and all the group members love to give her a little of her own medicine back. She tried to tell us the reason she held onto her "fat" clothes was because of how frugal she is... but then when we found out she was in a "walk for cancer" and ordered an extra large T-shirt... we knew it was more than frugality. There are many complicated emotional aspects to losing weight. It is interesting to explore them and when a group member is open and honest as Cindy is... it helps the other group members identify their own issues too. Also, I should note that the Reasonable Diet is based, not on what you could do, or should do... but what you are actually willing to do. Cindy lost this weight without actually exercising (but she did buy walking shoes and join Curves). We hope that soon she'll put them both together and actually work up a sweat soon.
